John P. Ciavarella, 83, of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at the Allied Services Hospice Unit in Wilkes-Barre.

He was born in Hazleton on August 31, 1940, a son of the late Peter and Jeanette Ciavarella. John was a graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School.

John was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Wilkes-Barre, prior to its closure. He later became a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in Wilkes-Barre.

John was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Margaret J. (Bonsavage) Ciavarella, on October 28, 2017. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ben, Carmen, Paul, James, Joseph, and Tony; and by his sisters, Venus, Angeline and Rachel.

He is survived by his loving family; daughter, Angelina; son, John Jr. and his wife, Kim; grandchildren, Lysandra, Jessica and her husband, Brandon, John Patrick III, Dane and his wife, Brennan; great grandchildren, John Edward, Dominic Mason, and Parker; brothers, Philip, and Frank and his sister, Mary; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

As John always said “The Pleasure Was All Yours”.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 am from the Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. His Pastor, Rev. Richard J. Cirba, will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 8:30 am – 11 am at the funeral home.
