Obituary of Lois J. Walker

Inseparable in life and death, Thomas F. Walker, Jr., 80 and Lois J. Walker, 78, of Eyam Hall Lane, Apex, NC and formerly of Charles Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA passed away on January 28, 2025. Tom died of complications from Alzheimer’s Disease while Lois passed away from complications related to cancer.
Tom was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on October 5, 1944, the youngest child to Thomas and Carolyn Walker. Lois was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on December 12, 1946, the oldest child to Gordon and Lois Williams.
Tom and Lois were high school sweethearts, married for nearly 58 years. They both graduated from E.L. Meyers High School. Tom served in the US Navy and went on to have a successful career in sales. Lois was a registered nurse at Nesbitt Hospital and the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Known for their kindness, service to their church, and unconditional love for their children, grandchildren, family, and friends. They were active members of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Wilkes-Barre, PA as well as Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Cary, NC.
They are survived by children: Michael Walker (Michele) of Novato, CA, Amy Gelm (Jeff) of Apex, NC, and Susan Walker of Arlington, VA; three grandchildren; Tom’s sister-in-law Barbara Walker of Kingston PA, Lois’ siblings: Gordon R. Williams (Jill) of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Willard A. Williams (Barbara) of Bear Creek Township, PA, Jean Roberts (Louis) of Wyoming, and Joan Torbik (Lee) of Kingston, PA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Tom was preceded in death by his sister Sandra Jacobs (Matt) of Wilkes-Barre, PA and brother Walter Walker formerly of Benton, PA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Wyoming Valley Presbyterian Church, formerly Westminster Presbyterian Church, located at 2 Lockhart Street in Wilkes-Barre, PA. A private burial will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery, Hanover Township immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in memory of Tom and Lois to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org).
