Obituary of Carol Ann Evans

Carol Ann Evans, 89, of Wilkes-Barre, passed peacefully into eternal life on Tuesday ,April 15, 2025, at home, surrounded by her children.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on January 21, 1936, Carol was the daughter of the late Haydn Thomas and Hannah Mae Smith Evans. She attended James M. Coughlin High School, graduating with the Class of 1953. In 1954, she married the love of her life, Harry Paul Evans Jr. of Wilkes-Barre Township, upon his return from serving in the United States Marine Corp., during the Korean Conflict. They shared 54 wonderful years together before his passing in 2009.
Carol had a great love for flowers and all creatures, her gentle spirit reflected a deep connection to nature. She was a longtime member of the First Welsh Presbyterian Church on East Northampton Street Wilkes-Barre. After its closing, she continued her faithful worship at the Wyoming Valley Presbyterian Church on Lockhart Street.
She was previously employed by RCA, Mountain Top, The Kiddie Shoppe at the Wyoming Valley Mall, and retired from Burlington Coat Factory, Wilkes-Barre.
In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Haydn Evans, and sister, Sharon Riotto.
She is survived by her sons, Harry Paul (Skip) Evans III of Wilkes-Barre, Douglas Wayne Evans of Greensburg, PA; daughter . Kelly Brennan and her husband Matthew of Hanover Twp.; grandchildren, Matthew and Kaitlyn Brennan; brothers, David (Ruth) and Gary (Christine); and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express its deepest gratitude for the exceptional care their mother received from Balanced Care LLC. Brandie Brennan, owner, along with caregivers Taylor Spears and Linda Spencer, provided daily love and support and will forever be considered family. Additionally, words cannot express the family's appreciation for the dedicated nurses, social workers, chaplains, and staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, whose compassion and guidance allowed their mother to pass with grace and dignity.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave. Wilkes-Barre.
A Funeral service and celebration of life will be held at a later date at Wyoming Valley Presbyterian Church, 2 Lockhart Street, Wilkes-Barre.
