Obituary of Rose Marie Seroka

Rose Marie Seroka, 80, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025, in Allied Services Meade Street Skilled Nursing, Wilkes-Barre. She was born in Marion Heights, a daughter of the late Walter J. Klepaski Sr. and Helen Lopuck Klepaski. Rose graduated as her class salutatorian at Marymount High School. She received her BS in Biology from Misericordia University and her Master’s Degree in reading from the University of Scranton. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for many years as a teacher in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District starting teaching biology at Meyers High School and ending her career as a reading specialist at Kistler Elementary School. Rose was a member of the Wilkes-Barre Area Education Association and the Pennsylvania State Education Association. Rose was known for her quick-witted remarks, great sense of humor, generosity and loved sharing stories about her students who she had a deep commitment towards teaching and their education. Prior to its closure, Rose was a member of St. Benedict’s Parish in the Parsons Section of Wilkes-Barre, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Seroka in 2004 and by her son, Keith A. Seroka in 2016. Rose is survived by her daughter, Lynne Seroka, Nanticoke, and by her brother, Walter J. Klepaski Jr. and his wife, Grace, Jenkins Township. She is also survived by her nephew, Mark James Klepaski (Marie Anthony), Shavertown; niece, Christine Feist (Emil), Mountaintop; great nieces and nephews, Kaya and Corey Klepaski and Braylen and Kaegan Feist and many cousins from Pennsylvania, Michigan and Alaska. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.
