Obituary of Anthony J. Yeninas

Anthony J. Yeninas, of Hanover Twp passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025, at home following a battle with cancer. Anthony was born on May 15, 1936. He was the son of the late Anthony and Veronica Vernogis Yeninas. Upon graduating from Hanover High School, Anthony proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Anthony also attended Wilkes-Barre Business College in Wilkes-Barre. He was employed as a Foreman/ Construction worker with Statewide Construction in Wilkes-Barre. Along with serving in the Navy, Anthony served in the reserves alongside his son Mark from 1985 to 1987. After retirement, he enjoyed long car rides with his beloved wife, Lorraine, never knew where their next trip would be but they always enjoyed their time together. Anthony was also very proud of all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren but held a special place in his heart for his buddy Liam Wyatt Anthony, who carries his namesake. Anthony was also an advid listener and enjoyed country music, but real country, like Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. In addition to his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by siblings, Francis, Robert, Mary Venturi Regal, and Angie Smith along with infant siblings, John and Patricia. Anthony is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lorraine Abate Yeninas, children, Terri (Mark) Thomas of Wilkes-Barre, Mark (Susan) Yeninas of Hanover Twp, and Joan (John) Davis of Papillion, NE; Grandchildren, Anthony Thomas, Miles Thomas, Logan (Sarabeth) Thomas, Rece Thomas, Daniel (Maria) Yeninas, Tristen Davis, Brandon Davis, and Lexi (Michael) Feldmann; Great grandchildren, Liam Thomas, Avery Yeninas; Anthony is also survived by his brother, Jerome (Kathy) Yeninas of Mountain top; sisters, Carol (Frank) Raitter of Wilkes-Barre and Nancy (Arden) Meeker of Hunlock Creek. Anthony was a member of Amvets Post 59 of Hanover Twp. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday May 6, 2025, at 10 AM in Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, 420 Main Rd in Hanover Twp. 18706. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Hanover Twp. Friends may call at the church from 9 am until the time of the service. Arrangements are from the Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home on Park Ave in Wilkes-Barre.
