Joan A. Hibdon Obituary

Joan A. Dotzel Hibdon, 69, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rita Poris Dotzel. Joan graduated from Marymount grade school and Bishop Hoban High School.


She was preceded in death by her Husband, John C. Hibdon.


Survived by her ex-husband Clement Smith Son, Eric Smith and Erin Suhoski, Mt Top. Daughter, Jennifer Smith and significant other Michael, Wilkes-Barre Twp., Sons, Bob, Keith, and wife Amy Riemund of Missouri.


She was a devoted grandmother. Joan was the caretaker of Josh and Jenny and loved them dearly.


Joan had 8 Grandchildren, Joshua, Erik, Jade, Sarah, Keifer, Madison, Kobe, and Dakota. She had 4 great grandchildren.


Brothers Joseph Dotzel and wife Delhi, Tommy Dotzel and wife Tina, Jimmy Dotzel and sister-in-law, Judy Dotzel, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.


Joan was an avid dog lover. She loved her family and friends especially her best friend Andrea.


The family would like to thank Lori S. and Donna S at the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center and all medical staff at Geisinger Wyoming Valley for their compassionate care of Joan.


Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday September 12, 2025, at St. Mary’s Cemetery Chapel, 1594 S. Main St. Hanover Twp.


A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service in the chapel.


Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, Wilkes-Barre.


In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Geisinger’s Cancer Center, Plains twp.
