Noel Stephen Mariano was born on December 25, 1958, in Dangriga, Belize, C.A., to John and Gritel Mariano. He later migrated to the United States, where he made Brooklyn, New York his home and attended Erasmus High School.
As Noel transitioned from boyhood into manhood, he relocated to Los Angeles, there he met his wife Rose, whom he married on July 27, 1991, in California, where he lived for many years. During this time, he worked at Lithographix, Inc., a job that gave him great pride and a sense of accomplishment. In his spare time, he took course in the culinary arts. As he was passionate about cooking. After many years in Los Angeles, Noel moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he worked as a chef at HMS host a subsidiary of the Swiss company Avolta
Although Noel spent much of his life on the West Coast, his heart always remained in New York. He was a devoted fan of all New York teams—the Yankees, Knicks, Giants and Jets. When his teams were playing, no one was allowed to speak as he passionately cheered them on.
Noel embraced life fully and found joy in running marathons, cooking, dancing, singing, and doing anything that made him happy. One of the things dearest to his heart was dancing Jankunnu (Wanaragua), a cherished cultural tradition dance performed during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
In 2021, Noel moved to Pringle, Pennsylvania, to live with his sister Yolanda and her family. That same year marked a powerful spiritual chapter in his life. He became a member of More Than Conquerors Global Ministries, where he was baptized and gave his life to Christ.
On December 31, 2025, Noel peacefully went on to be with his eternal father.
Noel Stephen Mariano was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gritel Mariano; his brother, Glenford Mariano; and his grandparents, Leocardia “Lady Lard” Mariano and William “Bill” (Masugara) Mariano.
He leaves to cherish his memory his brothers, Frank Mariano, John Mariano Jr., and
Dr. Malcolm Servio- Mariano; his sisters, Pastor Yolanda Mariano and Desarie Mariano; his aunt, Sheila Mariano; his uncle, Thomas Mariano; his children, Deon Steven Mariano, John Bill Lopez, and Kyle Noel Mariano; and his grandchildren, A’Naveon Lopez, Jaela Lopez, and Skylar Lopez. He is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, extended family members, and friends.
Noel will be remembered for his joyful spirit, love for family, deep cultural pride, unwavering faith, and the happiness he brought to everyone who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11 am from Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 717 Main St., Edwardsville. Pastor Peter Kpapharo will officiate. Calling hours will be 10 am until the time of service.
