Patricia A. Buratti Obituary

Patricia A. Buratti, 83, of Mt. Top passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Birchwood Nursing Home, Nanticoke. She was born in Ashley the daughter of the late Bernard and Agnes Farrell Mengeringhausen. Patricia graduated from St. Leo’s High School, Ashley. She was the Operations Manager at Bell Telephone and later Verizon prior to her retirement. Patricia was a member of St. Patrick’s church, Wilkes-Barre.

She was a life-long traveling-salesman customer, as her children will remember visits from Jewel-T, Electrolux, Encyclopedia, as well as Schwan’s. Her freezer was usually packed full with Schwan’s frozen foods, at one time requiring tape to keep it closed.

A career-long employee of Bell Telephone, she progressed through the ranks of telephone operator through Computer Operations Manager. She was also a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers.

While having a full-time job, she found time to be a boy scout and girl scout mom. She loved her grandchildren, never missing an opportunity for a hug or kiss.

Sundays were extra special at her house, with everyone sharing a meal, and lots of laughs.

She always tried to see the other person’s point of view. We all remember her saying “well...”

Those who knew her know she was one of the nicest people you would ever meet.

Preceded in death by her husband, Ed Buratti, brother, Joseph Mengeringhausen, brother-in-law Jim Buratti, and brother-in-law, Bob Nilon.
