Rosalie DeRocco, 88, a resident of Allied Services Meade Street Skilled Nursing in Wilkes-Barre, formerly of Hanover Township, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
She was born in Chase, Lehman Township, a daughter of the late Manuel and Stella Muroski Santayana. Rosalie was a graduate of Plymouth High School and she attended Beauty School. A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church in Wilkes-Barre.
Family meant everything to Rosalie. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who will be sadly missed by her family and by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Bernadine Gieda, Dolores Cureka, and Shirley Santayana; and by her brothers, Manuel, Gene and George Santayana.
Rosalie is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Carl DeRocco and by her daughters, Carla DeRocco and her husband, Edward Malachefski, Warrior Run, Gina Roberts and her husband, Jack, Newport Township, and Suzette Butczynski and her husband, Lenny, Newport Township. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Evan and Lindsey Wasilewski, Rees Roberts and his wife, Rachel, Gianna Roberts, Colby and Caleb Butczynski; great grandchildren Haiden Wasilewski and Walker Roberts; and by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 10 am from the Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 am in St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church, Barney & Division Streets, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday morning, February 21, 2026, prior to the service from 8:30 – 10 am at the funeral home.
