Carl DeRocco Obituary
Carl DeRocco, 91, of Hanover Township, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Allied Services Meade Street Skilled Nursing in Wilkes-Barre.
He was born in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late James and Gelsomina Botticello DeRocco. Carl was a graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement, Carl was employed for over 40 years as general superintendent for Sordoni Construction. He was a devoted member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church in Wilkes-Barre, where he served as an usher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Rosalie Santayana DeRocco on February 18, 2026. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Showanes, Theresa and Margaret DeRocco and by his brothers, John and Vincent DeRocco.
Carl is survived by his daughters, Carla DeRocco and her husband, Edward Malachefski, Warrior Run, Gina Roberts and her husband, Jack, Newport Township, and Suzette Butczynski and her husband, Lenny, Newport Township. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Evan Wasilewski, Lindsey Wasilewski and her fiancé, Chris Smith, Rees Roberts and his wife, Rachel, Gianna Roberts, Colby and Caleb Butczynski; great grandchildren, Haiden Wasilewski and Walker Roberts; and by his numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 9:30 am from the Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 am in St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church, Barney and Division Streets, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 from 8-9:30 am at the funeral home.
