John E. “Jack” Snyder, 80, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Friday April 17, 2026, at Allied Nursing Home, Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre.

He was born in Wilkes-Barre to the late John “Chick” and Beatrice “Bea” (McGuiness) Snyder. Jack was a proud graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School, class of 1963. He served in the 402nd MP Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1971 as a Seargent. Jack worked as a journeyman electrician for I.B.E.W Local 163 for his entire career, and retired in 2008. He loved gardening, and enjoyed his unofficial grass cutting business during retirement. He also kept busy as a driver for Stegura Funeral Home. Near and dear to his heart was his final post-retirement role as a Desk Attendant at King’s College.

Jack could be seen changing his many hats frequently, as he loved the Mets, Steelers, Flyers, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He belonged to The Mayflower Rod & Gun Club, Wilkes-Barre, and after 40 years of “near misses,” he finally bagged his first deer. In his earlier adult years, he loved to play softball, bowl, and could out-eat almost anyone at the annual I.B.E.W. clambakes.

Jack is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maureen (Panzarello) Snyder, son, John E. Snyder, Wilkes-Barre Twp., daughters, Stacey Snyder Hannigan and her husband George, Media, Robyn Snyder, Kingston, grandchildren, Maria Berk and her husband Evan, Colin Hannigan, Morgan Hannigan, great grandchildren, Jack Berk, Ila Berk, and faithful Companion, Lady.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday April 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. from Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home 89 Park Ave. Wilkes-Barre. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday April 22, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday April 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
