Nancy P. Snee, 73, of Wilkes-Barre Twp. passed away Saturday July 11, 2026, at Third Avenue Health & Rehab. She was born in Wilkes-Barre the daughter of the late Joseph and Mae McAdara Snee. Nancy graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Wilkes-Barre, Wilkes University with a BS in Environmental Science, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, with a MS in Urban & Environmental Studies. She was a Senior Planner at Luzerne County Planning Commission prior to her retirement. Nancy was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Wilkes-Barre Twp. until its closing, then she attended Mass at King’s College Chapel after St. Joseph’s Church closing.


She was very involved in Liturgical music. She was the Director of Contemporary Choir and Cantor program at St. Joseph’s Friary from 1979 until its closing. She had also served as part-time organist at St. Francis Cabrini in Shavertown and Blessed Sacrament in Centermoreland. Nancy also served as Director of the Contemporary Choir at St. Aloysius in Wilkes-Barre.


Nancy presented original liturgical music at Composer’s Workshop sponsored by the National Pastoral Musicians, Scranton Diocese Chapter in 1993. She provided music for St. Ann’s Media Daily Mass on a regular basis. Nancy also provided music for Sacred Scripture Institute at College Misericordia in Dallas. She performed at numerous weddings and funerals every year. She produced and recorded an original liturgical music cassette and accompanying songbook entitles, Speak my Words in 1983, “Songs for All Seasons” in 2001, and Francis – The Saint From Assisi, an original musical based on the life of St. Francis of Assisi.


She performed all over the country and at the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi, Italy.

She was an avid tennis player, having played and coached at Wilkes College and a long-time season ticket holder for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Nancy was a member of the United States Tennis Assoc., American Planning Association, and Scranton Chapter of National Pastoral Musicians.


Preceded in death by infant brother, Jackie Snee, brothers, Joseph, Thomas, and James “Jay” Snee.


Survived by brothers, Donald Snee, Bel Air, MD, William Snee, Wilkes-Barre Twp., and Mary Pat Sherman, Pittsburgh, numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 A.M. Thursday July 16, 2026, at Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home 89 Park Ave. Wilkes-Barre with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Ignatius Loyola Church 339 N. Maple Ave., Kingston. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.


A visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday July 15, 2026, at the funeral home.
