Obituary of Joseph J. Guesto

Joseph J. Guesto, 66, of Mountain Top, passed away unexpectedly at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late Pascal and Rita Zampetti Guesto. Joe was a 1975 graduate of Bishop Hoban High School, and he earned his associate’s degree from Williamsport Community College. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years at Mountain Top Foam. Joe was a member of St. Jude Parish in Mountain Top. He was an accomplished musician and drummer, playing in Uncle Sam’s American Band. Most of all, Joe was a loving husband, father and brother. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Frank McKeon and by his sister-in-law, Patricia Schmidt. Joe is survived by his wife of 41 years, Maureen McKeon Guesto and by his son, Patrick Guesto and his fiancée, Jen Nenstiel of Mountain Top. He is also survived by his sister, Marie Guesto, Mountain Top; brother, James Guesto and his wife, Kris, Emmaus; mother-in-law, Ellen McKeon, Mountain Top; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth McKeon, Mountain Top; Kathleen Quarles and her husband, Frank, Palm Beach, FL; Mary Colette McKeon and her fiancée, George Lavigne, France; Brian McKeon and his wife, Bridget, Onstead, MI; Andrew McKeon and his wife, Bette, Singer Island, FL; nieces and nephews, Matthew and Heather McKeon, Jeremy and Vanessa McKeon, Stephanie and Tyler Mittnacht, Brianna and Ian Clark, Jessica Quarles, Frankie Quarles, Lyndsey Schmidt, Devin and Courtney Schmidt; numerous cousins and dear friends. A celebration of Joe’s life, will begin with a visitation for family and friends from 4-7 pm on Wednesday at the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 am in St. Jude Parish, 420 S. Mountain Blvd. (Rte. 309), Mountain Top. Those attending the Mass are asked to go directly to the Church on Thursday morning between 9:30 am and the time of the service. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America (www.PVA.org) or Food for the Poor (www.foodforthepoor.org).
