Obituary of Audrey J. Thomas

Audrey J. Thomas, 87, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at Riverstreet Manor in Wilkes-Barre. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Yanchick Yamrus. Audrey was a homemaker in her early years to her husband and children then went on to work at Lerners department store in Harrisburg, PA and eventually retiring as a waitress for Pattes Sports Bar in Wilkes-Barre. Audrey was a member of St. Anthony/St. George Maronite Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre and its Altar & Rosary Society. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Maryann and her brother, Joseph Yamrus. Audrey is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Joseph Thomas and by her children, Deborah McKenzie and her husband, Jeff, Cumming, GA, Kim Cardinale, Wilkes-Barre, Joann Brancher and her husband, Rod, Loganville, GA, Joseph Thomas and his wife, AnnMarie Petitto-Thomas, Perkasie, PA and Jacquelyn Thomas, Cochranville, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Aaron Kaspriskie and his wife, Crystal, Stevie Kitchens and her husband, Dan, Joseph Thomas and his wife, Abby, Eric Thomas and Francesca Cardinale; great grandchildren, Abby and Morgan Kaspriskie, Parker, Levi and Josie Kitchens; brothers, Ray Yamrus and his wife, Ann, Cameron, NC, Tom Yamrus and his companion, Joy Koester, Bel Air, MD, Pat Yamrus and his wife Ellie, Bangor, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. Audrey’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Riverstreet Manor for their loving and compassionate care. A celebration of Audrey’s life will begin with a visitation from 9-11am on Friday at St. Anthony/St. George’s Maronite Catholic Church, 311 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with Divine Liturgy to follow at 11am. Rev. Adib Salameh will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
