Obituary of Lucille M. Zipko

Lucille M. Zipko, 97, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Thursday, December 14th at Smith Health Care in Mountain Top. She was born in Wilkes-Barre Township, a daughter of the late Adam and Elizabeth Farris Machey. Lucille was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School. Lucille was a devout Catholic and member of the former St. Joseph’s Slovak Church in Wilkes-Barre, until its closing. She was later a member of St. Mary’s Church of the Immaculate Conception, Wilkes-Barre. Lucille was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward M. Zipko in 1988 and by her son, Robert Zipko in 2020. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Machey, Elizabeth Witkavage, Anna Mehrbach, and Rosella Clark; brothers, John, Joseph and Thomas Machey. Lucille is survived by her children, Raymond Zipko and his wife, Ginger, Upper Arlington, OH, Claire Radaszewski and her husband, David, Mountain Top, David Zipko and his wife, Diane, Oxford, OH; daughter-in-law, Patricia Zipko, Mountain Top; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family from the Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Deacon Leo Thompson will officiate.
