Obituary of Nancy Manfre

Ann L. “Nancy” Manfre, 92, formerly of Stanton Street, Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the River View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Plains Township. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late John P. and Loretta McCloskey Davis. Nancy was a 1949 graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School. Nancy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. She was an active member of St. Andrew Parish (St. Patrick’s Church) in Wilkes-Barre, where she volunteered her time at church dinners and functions. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Eugene C. Manfre in 2004, by her daughter-in-law, Glenys Jayne Manfre and son-in-law, Joseph Broody. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Helen Ginthner and brother, Charles Davis. Nancy is survived by her loving children, Robert Manfre and his wife, Mary, Shavertown, Eugene “Archie” Manfre and his wife, Cindy, Wilkes-Barre, and Adele Broody, Lawrenceville, Georgia; grandchildren, Loriann Conahan and her husband, Eric, Marc Manfre and his wife, Stacey, Allyson Doran and her husband, Patrick and Nicole Manfre; great grandchildren, Olivia and Lucas Conahan and Kaysen and Kennedy Brown and by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 12th at 10 am from the Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 am in St. Andrew Parish, 316 Parrish Street, Wilkes-Barre. Rev. J. Duane Gavitt will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 4 – 7 pm at the funeral home. Our family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, nurse’s aides and activities staff at River View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the outstanding care and compassion shown to our mom over the years.
