Obituary of Joann Gluc

JoAnn Wallace Gluc, 89, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2024 at Wesley Village in Jenkins Township. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late John and Helene O’Neill Wallace. JoAnn was a 1952 graduate of Hanover Township High School. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry and she was later employed as a greeter at Kmart. JoAnn was a member of St. Andrew Parish in Wilkes-Barre. She was also a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers union. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward Gluc, in 2022 and by her brother, Jack Wallace. JoAnn is survived by her daughters, Donna Powlus and her husband, Richard, Pittston; Karen Jones and her husband, Art, Wilkes-Barre and JoAnn Gayle Morgans and her husband, Ron, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Marialena Tencza and her husband, Tom, Plains; John Day, Wilkes-Barre; Artie Jones, Shavertown; Thomas Jones and his wife, Jennifer, Nanticoke; Rebecca Rosengrant and her husband, Jeff, Dallas; and Ryan Morgans, Wilkes-Barre; 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Helene (Cheech) Greenland, Levittown; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:30 am from the Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12 noon in St. Andrew Parish, 316 Parish Street, Wilkes-Barre. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday from 10 -11:30 am at the funeral home.
