Obituary of Rita Mary Bobin

Rita M. Bobin, 80, of Bear Creek passed away Thursday March 21, 2024, peacefully at home. She was born in Wilkes-Barre the daughter of the late John and Helen Negry Budnar. She graduated from Larksville High School with honors and was the class valedictorian and a active cheerleader. Rita enrolled in Wilkes College with a scholarship and graduated with a master’s degree from Colgate University in Biology. She also graduated from Temple with a biology degree. Rita was a biology teacher at Haddonfield High School, Haddonfield, N.J for 30 years. She retired and returned home to the Wyoming Valley in 1996. She was well known and very active in the showing and breeding of Boston Terriers. Rita and Bob were volunteers at Luzerne County SPCA. She also volunteered as ombudsman to two area nursing homes. Rita was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Larksville. Rita is preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Bobin in 2009. She is survived by her two Boston Terriers Cutie Pie and Stormy. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2024, from Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, West Location, 717 Main Street Edwardsville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church 126 Nesbitt Street, Larksville. Friends and family may call from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Courtdale.
