Obituary of Martha C. Ott

Martha Ott Obituary Martha C. Ott went quietly to be with the Lord on January 29, 2024, at the age of 101. She was the daughter of Paul and Anna Chorvat. Martha was born on November 11, 1922, and raised on a farm in Masaryktown, Florida. She graduated from Hernando High School, in Brooksville. After high school Martha moved to Washington DC where she began her career with the Federal Government. She worked for the Department of Commerce National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and retired after 30 years of service. While living in Washington DC she met her future husband John E. Ott. The two were married in 1948 and enjoyed a loving and devoted marriage of 55 years. They lived in the DC suburbs and following retirement moved to the Frederick area. Besides her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband John, brother Paul Chorvat, and sister Helen Burns. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Griffin, son John Ott, daughter Deborah (Kenneth) Kallgren, grandsons Paul (Kristen) Kallgren and Neil (Gabriela) Kallgren, and two great granddaughters, Charlotte and Claire Kallgren who lovingly called her Great Mama. She was enormously proud of her family and had a deep appreciation for her friends. Martha was an intelligent, insightful woman, a voracious reader and learner with a remarkable memory. She loved nature and animals, always a softy for pets. She enjoyed the challenges of solving the hardest crossword puzzles and trivia questions. Her favorite hobby was sewing, and she created many beautiful clothing items, always using her own design and creative eye. Martha will be remembered for her smile, kindness, strength and calm in life's difficulties, but yet never missing the opportunity to share a good joke. A private graveside service will be held in the spring at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre, PA. If you wish to honor Martha's memory with a contribution, please support a local animal welfare charity of your choice.
