Michael F. Thornton, 53, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Tuesday August 6, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born in Wilkes-Barre to the late Lawrence and Marie Giambra Thornton. Michael attended Meyers High School prior to joining the U.S. Army. He was employed by UPS freight as a truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, son, Joshua Thornton, Scranton, daughter, Nicole Thornton, Mt. Top, stepdaughters, Amy Rivera and her husband Chris, Mt. Top, Amanda Fargo and her husband Matt, Norwich, NY, 13 grandchildren, brothers, David Thornton and his wife Mary, Larksville, Mark Thornton and his husband, Jose, Nanticoke, many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral, 89 Park Ave. Wilkes-Barre.

A visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers the family has as for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
