Derick Almon Hunter “Buck”, 38 of Huntington Mills passed away unexpectedly on Sunday August 11th, 2024, at home.

He was born on March 8th, 1986, in Kingston Pa to Patricia Sims (Hunter). He was raised since birth as the son of the late Orville W. and Charlotte M. Harvey Hunter Sr., whom were his legal parents and maternal grandparents.

Derick attended Northwest Area Highschool. He was previously employed at Sugar Hollow Water Services and Newport Aggregate.

He loved to Hunt, Fish, Trap or do anything related to outdoors. His passions were spending time with his Children and Grandchildren and just spending quality time with his family & friends. He loved to make people laugh by coming up with goofy sayings or just twisting his words around.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Orville Hunter Jr. and best friend, Warren Davenport (JR).

Derick leaves behind his wife Maria Higgins Hunter; Sons; Kim Spencer (Linda) of Stillwater; Derick Hunter of Huntington Mills, Jody Higgins of Philadelphia, William David Matthew Hunter of Hanover Twp. and Avery Hunter at Home. Daughters: Makenzee Hays of Lee Twp., Carrie Spencer (Jeremy Mucha) of Harvey’s Lake, Amanda Spencer of Harvey’s Lake; Breanna Hunter and Brandy Hunter both at home. Grandchildren: Austin (11) and Deacon (10 months). Mother; Patricia Sims; Brothers; Joseph Hunter of Huntington Mills; William Hunter (Tammy) of Stillwater and sister Charlotte Davenport (Warren) of Hunlock Creek. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be private. Derick will be laid to rest at Bethel Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers: monetary donation may be given directly to (funeral home) or to Carrie Spencer.
