Michael Ott Obituary

Michael C. Ott, 86, of Forty Fort passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2024 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.


He was born in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late Michael and Frances Tkaczyk Ott. Michael was a graduate of Coughlin High School, class of 1955 and he attended Penn State University on a full football scholarship. He was employed as a technical consultant for many years by Western Electric and Bell Telephone in Harrisburg and he retired from Verizon.


Michael was a lifetime member of St. Nicholas – St. Mary’s Parish in Wilkes-Barre, and was an active member of its Holy Name Society. You could find him at the annual church bazaar selling 50/50 tickets with his wife, Anna. Also, he attended many train shows since he was an avid collector of American Flyer toy trains.


Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Anna Michak Ott; sister, Frances Garofalo; nieces, Lisa Polack and her husband, Christopher and Laura Garofalo; great niece, Addie Garofalo; great nephew, Theo Polack; step-son, Gary Michak and his wife, Michelle; step-grandchildren, Madison and Christian Michak and numerous caring cousins.


Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 9:30 from the Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 am in St. Nicholas – St. Mary’s Parish, 226 S. Washinton Street, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery, Shavertown.


A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4-7 pm on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be in Michael’s memory to St. Nicholas – St. Mary’s Parish, 226 S. Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
