Robert Nilon and I were altar boys at St Leo's in the early 1960s. We also were on the school debate team together. "Bobby" always insisted on arguing the negative side of every resolution, whether it was about federal aid to education, a common market for the Western Hemisphere, or Medicare benefits. I remember his wit and eloquence, as well as his easy-going manner.

MaryEllen,
You may not remember me but I worked at juvenile detention way back when Bob was there. He was my favorite PO because of his ability to listen, his compassion for people (not just his clients) but for everyone he knew. I know you knew this but I needed to tell you that many people felt it. Depend on others to help you through this.

I go back to his early days at JPO. I, a caseworker interacted with Him on a regular basis. Then he went to WBASD, and again, our paths crossed as they did at CSS. What a kind and gentle man whose aim was to help the kids get a 2nd chance.
There are folks who leave a legacy and everlasting memories, He was one of those people. My hope that as memories float to the surface, they will be accompanied by a smile!
May God's grace be upon you all and may His solace bring a measure of joy for having Bob in your life.
