Francis E. Rowe Jr., 86, of Ashley, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2025, at home. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, the son of the late Francis and Hazel Watters Rowe Sr. Francis graduated from Kingston High School, class of 1956. After high school, he served in the United States Air Force. Prior to retirement, Francis was a Specialty Technician for Bell Telephone. He was a member of St. Leo the Great Parish, Ashley. Francis was an avid outdoorsman who spent much of his retirement time in Black Walnut PA, where he loved to hunt, and fish along the Susquehanna river on his beloved ‘Rowe' boat. Generations have come to spend summers up at the cottage. Many a campfire and much fun was had by all who visited.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol C. Aigeldinger Rowe; his brother, Tommy Rowe; grandsons, Steven Rowe and Billy Scarborough; and great-grandson, River Swiatek.
He is survived by his sons, Francis Rowe and his wife Debra of Centerville, GA; James and his wife Ginger of Silvara, PA; Daniel and his wife Pamela of Wilkes-Barre; daughters, Carolyn Belz and her husband Bruce of Alvarado, TX; Sharon Scarborough and her husband Cody of Wyalusing; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister-in law Marcella of Meshoppen; sister, May Ahlbrandt of Dimmock; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2025, in the Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the funeral home.
